3D Face Effects (Lady Gaga Born this Way Tutorial)

Subscribe on YouTube!

Video tutorial on how to manipulate light in order to create Lady Gaga’s famous look from the “Born this Way” music video. I create protruding bones coming from 4 places on my face.

I was obviously drinking a bunch of wine at the time and made the mistake of calling my brushes by the wrong name. The first brush was indeed the #214. The pencil brush was the #219 by MAC. I kept calling it 214 and 217. Sorry.

Wrath of blog posts are about to occur…

I have finally decided to throw in the hat and go with WordPress. I don’t know why I’m so sad about it as I think tumblr is so fun, cute and easy- but I have to face the facts and Tumblr has horrible SEO/SEM. I like how artsy everything is on it and the “follow” feature for other artists but I do makeup because I love it and it’s the career path I chose so when people type “makeup artist for weddings st. Louis” (or wherever I go) in google I want to show up number one. WordPress dominates google so much so that when I did a google search for Val Garland photos I posted on this blog a year ago show up first.

Long story short I’m going to be copying and pasting all of my blog posts over to WordPress so if it looks strange that all of these are posted on the same day that is why. I also changed my YouTube channel tonight to @makeupishaute rather than meganishaute. I will leave the old one up but since a couple of my videos had copyrighted music in them I am ineligible for “monetezation” on my makeup tutorials. Oh well! Subscribe to me here.

Inspiration: Val Garland

Val Garland is one of those artists where if you were in the same room as her you would shut up and listen. She is an inspiration to anyone who is into makeup from beauty to avant guard. Here are some of my favorite looks:

So I got to test the new Gaga II lipstick for MAC..

No Volkswagens were hurt in the making of this video.

Tssk!

I am seriously such a shit. I may honestly be the worst blogger ever. Anyways, I did an awesome shoot this past weekend for Miss Ohio Vintage and it went phenomenal. I can’t wait to see the pics and share them with everyone. I also concocted a little facebook page specifically for my makeup here. Check it out!

5-Minute Flawless Makeup

So last night I had to get ready and I had absolutely no time to do so and I did not want to spend a whole lot of time doing makeup but also did not want to go out in nothing… solution? I’ve found 5 products that can have you out the door looking flawless in less than five minutes.

1. Face + Body Foundation
Shake it up, squeeze a quarter size amount on the back of your hand and apply in a circular motion with a stipple brush all over your face and down your neck. Face and Body is water based and looks gorgeous on everyone, drying to a flawless skin-like finish.

2. Mineralize Skinfinish
Get 2 of these, one your color, and one that is pretty dark. I use Medium Plus and Dark. Apply the matching color with a kabuki brush and use the darker color for a quick contour over your eyelids, cheekbones, and jawline.

3. Blush
Use a more natural blush and blend it into the contour line. I like pinch o’ peach!

4. Zoomfast Black
Great mascara. It’s new- It’s fabulous- Trust me.

5. Tinted Lip Conditioner
Smoothes lips and gives a flirty pout as well.

Hangover Makeup.

There are a lot of times I’m sure (at least for me) when you would rather sleep than get ready and spend all day regretting it. If you can give yourself 5 minutes this routine could change your life… not kidding. I used all staple products that can have you nearly catwalk ready in a jif-

Kim Kardashian’s 3D Black and White Eyes

I really love this look because you can make it as dramatic as you want, or tone it down for a fun night out. This style originated in the sixties when women wanted their eyes to look as big as possible. Through the decades it’s gotten sleeker and darker! Try this out at home and fee free to send me your pics!
